Up to 200 files at a time, 200 MB per file. These limits protect your browser from running out of memory, they are not commercial restrictions.
This image is being read and converted by your own browser. It is never uploaded.
How to do it
Step 1: Drop your WebP files onto the page, or click to choose them. You can also paste an image straight from the clipboard.
Step 2: PNG is already selected as the output. Adjust the quality or size if you want to.
Step 3: Press Convert. The work happens in your browser, so nothing is uploaded.
Step 4: Download the PNG file, or download everything as a ZIP if you converted several.
Why convert WebP to PNG?
The right choice when the WebP has transparency that must be preserved and the destination does not accept WebP.
A lossy WebP converted to PNG does not become sharper; PNG simply stops any further loss.
PNG also brings its own advantage here: every pixel is preserved exactly, so text and sharp edges stay crisp.
WebP compared with PNG
The two formats are built for different jobs, and the differences decide whether this conversion is the right one. WebP and PNG differ mainly in these respects.
| Aspect | WebP | PNG |
|---|---|---|
| Compression | Both. Lossy by default, with a lossless mode available. | Lossless. The file is compressed, but no image information is thrown away. |
| Transparency | Yes, in both lossy and lossless modes. | Yes, with 256 levels of opacity per pixel. |
| Software support | Every current browser. Support in desktop applications is improving but uneven. | Universal. |
| Best suited to | Images on websites, where size matters and the browser is doing the opening. | Screenshots, logos, icons, diagrams and anything with text or flat colour. |
Questions
Are my WebP files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read from your device and never sent to a server, because this site has no server that receives them.
Does converting to PNG lose quality?
No. PNG stores every pixel exactly as it was given, so the conversion itself adds no loss. Anything the WebP had already discarded cannot be brought back, however.
Can I convert several WebP files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together, and download the results individually or as a single ZIP. Progress is shown per file and overall.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no commercial limit and no account. There are technical limits, because a browser has finite memory: very large images are flagged before conversion, and the tool says plainly when a device may struggle rather than freezing.
Does it cost anything?
No. Every format and every feature is available to everyone. There is no paid tier, no watermark and no sign-up.
