Why convert JPEG to AVIF?
For photographs on a website, AVIF is usually the smallest option available, often half the size of the JPEG.
It is worth comparing against WebP: AVIF wins on size, WebP wins on encoding speed and on software support outside the browser.
AVIF also brings its own advantage here: substantially smaller than JPEG and usually smaller than WebP at the same quality.

Questions
Are my JPEG files uploaded anywhere?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser. Your files are read from your device and never sent to a server, because this site has no server that receives them.
Does converting to AVIF lose quality?
By default yes, a little: AVIF discards detail in exchange for a much smaller file, and the quality setting controls how much. At 80 or above the difference is rarely visible. AVIF also has a lossless mode, which keeps every pixel at the cost of a larger file.
Can I convert several JPEG files at once?
Yes. Add as many as you like, convert them together, and download the results individually or as a single ZIP. Progress is shown per file and overall.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no commercial limit and no account. There are technical limits, because a browser has finite memory: very large images are flagged before conversion, and the tool says plainly when a device may struggle rather than freezing.
Does it cost anything?
No. Every format and every feature is available to everyone. There is no paid tier, no watermark and no sign-up.
